Our Setup
Our Car
We have a 2004 Toyota Landcruiser GXL Turbo Diesel HDJR100R. We replaced the rear springs with heavy duty springs and also installed airbags to assist with the towing level. A snorkel has also been fitted for those larger water crossings. In the boot of the car we have one slide out draw and a 40ltr Waeco Fridge.
On the roof we have a full tradesman’s roof rack along with a roof rack bag the holds most of the beach gear. We have also just installed a Rhino Rack 270 Batwing Awning for extra shade when parked on the beach.
We love this car and can’t seem to kill it no matter how hard we try. We have certainly put it to the test and every time it’s gets the job done.
Our Caravan
We have a Leader Gold 25ft Quad Bunk Family Van. This is the caravan of our dreams! Sure its a big van but there is also 6 off us that live in it full time. The van has a queen bed for the adults and 2 sets off bunks for the kids. At the back of the van we have a full ensuite with toilet, shower and washing machine. We have a 3 way 180ltr fridge/freezer, 3 gas burner and one electric hotplate and even an oven in the kitchen.
We have 2 x 120 watt solar panel on the roof and 1 x 150 watt solar blanket that we through out when free camping. Backing the solar panels are 2 x 120amp AGM batteries.
Under the van we have 2 x 90ltr water tanks and 1 x grey water tank. The grey water tank has been very handy especially when staying in showgrounds or national parks where no grey water is to be released. The suspension is just the standard roller rocker which has been great. We just take our time when we get to the rough corrugations and drive to conditions.
The Tare of our van is 2752kg and the ATM is 3250kg.
