ISLAND ADVENTURES
Fitzroy Island
Fitzroy Island is an unspoilt tropical paradise of rainforest and beaches within the calm sheltered waters of the Great Barrier Reef. This place is one of our favourite places in Australia and only a 45-minute ferry ride from Cairns. We stayed here for 2 nights and loved it.
Home to Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre and Nudey Beach which was voted Australia's number one beach for 2018. The beaches are made up of dead coral so they can be a little hard on your feet but it totally makes up for it once you’re in the water. If you love to snorkel and search for turtles then the best place is to the right of the jetty. We saw about 10 different turtles and the kids couldn’t get enough. There are a number of tours available such as guided snorkelling, diving and glass bottom boat tours. You can also hire equipment like SUPs, kayaks and all your snorkelling equipment.
They have a great water trampoline that you swim out to and have fun jumping off into the water. For the best sunset over the water head to Foxys Bar and grab yourself a drink, some dinner and relax as you watch the sunset. It’s just paradise!
