ISLAND ADVENTURES

Kangaroo Island

A unique experience in our beautiful country.

Just off the mainland of South Australia lies Kangaroo Island. Just a short ferry ride takes you to this beautiful island. We took our car and caravan over with us on Sealink and stayed for 6 awesome days. If your planning on a trip over to Kangaroo Island in the future we highly recommend spending at the least 5 days to fully explore everything the Island has to offer. We could have easily stayed longer and that was without exploring Flinders Chase National Park which is still closed after the devastating bushfires. Even after the bushfires ripped through sections of the Island there is still so much to explore and after this pandemic is finally over and we can get back out into our beautiful country and travel again. They will need our support more than ever.

Kangaroo Island is surrounded by beautiful beaches, stunning coastal scenery and crystal-clear waters like Emu Bay. It is also home to an Australian Sea Lion population which offers a unique experience to get up close to these beautiful creatures.

Over a third of the Island is protected in nature reserves. Its home to native wildlife like the Australian sea lions, koalas, kangaroos, echidnas and a diverse bird species.

We stayed at Vivonne Bay Camping Area on our first night which was a beautiful spot right by the beach, we had power, toilets/showers and there was even a camp kitchen and a playground for the kids. Our Ferry price included a night’s accommodation on the Island at Kingscote Tourist Park so our second night was spent there. Our 3rd and 4th night we stayed at Emu Bay camping Area which we had lovely views of the water from our site. There is no power or water but there is toilets just a short stroll across the road. It was close to the jetty where the boys tried some fishing one night and they even did some snorkelling around the jetty. We absolutely loved driving onto the beach of an evening and setting up with dinner and swimming in the stunning blue waters. This is where we found our little dolphin friends. Our last night was spent down at Penneshaw which is where the ferry comes and goes from. We stayed at Kangaroo Island Shores and explored all the surrounding beaches and Cape Willoughby from here.
