WHITSUNDAYS
Just Picture Perfect
This region is known throughout the world and we know why. It has the bluest water and the whitest sand. It’s just picture perfect! The heart of the Whitsundays is Airlie Beach. This town just has something about it that we just love. The atmosphere, the people, the wide variety of things to do and islands to explore. Once known as backpackers central it is slowly becoming more and more the best family friendly place to visit or even live.
If you want to explore the Great Barrier Reef there are so many options for you from here. If you are not sure which tour to take and don’t know where to start then I suggest heading into the Bowen Tourist Information Centre at the Big Mango. They are full of knowledge and will be sure to find you the best deals. For us we have done a few different tours here. We did a tour with Ocean Rafting which leaves from Abell Marina and takes you on an exhilarating ride to Whitehaven beach and hill inlet, while including 2 snorkelling spots along the way. This beach is so stunning and Hill Inlet at the north end of the beach is absolutely breathtaking. We also did a tour with Air Whitsundays. We got to go on a wonderful seaplane ride that took us over the amazing Great Barrier Reef and then got to land on the water at Whitehaven Beach. This experience was just incredible.
I think by far our best tour was with Whitsunday Paradise Explorer. John has a small private charter boat that takes up to 8 people. It’s basically your own private Whitsundays tour. John the skipper has a vast knowledge of the area and can design the best tour to fit in with your time frame. We have spent so much time in the area and can’t get enough of it.
We stay at the Big 4 Adventure Whitsundays which is the ultimate caravan park for kids. It has an amazing pool and the best slides for the kids to enjoy. It also has mini golf, animal farm and movie nights to keep the kids entertained.
