NINGALOO REEF TOURS
Whaleshark n Dive — Exmouth
Jaw dropping astonishment.
This tour had been on our bucket list since we started talking about lapping Australia and the day had finally arrived. Unfortunately, Mum missed out and stayed at the caravan park with Chase as he was just a bit to young, so it was just Dad and the 3 older boys.
We were picked up from our caravan park and taken to the harbour where we boarded the boat. Everybody on board was so excited for the adventure that awaited. We headed out to sea and quickly got into out wetsuits ready to jump into the water. The spotter plane was flying over head and it wasn’t long before we were told to get ready to jump in. The excitement just grew and grew and the boys were itching to jump in. Man was this an experience in itself.
The sea was a bit rough and not the ideal conditions for snorkelling but it didn’t phase our boys at all.
The time was now and we were told to jump in and swim into position to allow the whale shark to pass right by us.
It wasn’t the easiest to jump in and swim in the rough seas holding onto two of my boys and the staff could see that it was a little difficult so they helped with one of the boys.
I will never forget the moment that I first laid eyes on these magnificent creatures. It was just draw dropping astonishment! The pure size and grace of the Whale Shark was completely humbling and that moment will never be forgotten.
The Whale Shark seemed to just come out of nowhere and it was going to go directly past us. It kept getting closer and closer as if it had no idea we where even there. I felt that if I put my hand out, I could have touched it and the sudden sense of amazement filled my thoughts.
After getting back on the boat the boys were all so excited. They also couldn’t believe what they had seen and experienced. We managed to end up swimming with eight whale sharks that day and each one was just as good as the others. The day was finished off with another snorkel in a clam relaxing spot to just float about and enjoy the amazing Ningaloo Reef.
This was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and I highly recommend it to anyone.
