ROTNESTT ISLAND

White Sandy Beaches

One word to describe our 2 days on Rottnest island “Incredible”. This stunning island is an absolute must when visiting Perth. A protected nature reserve, it’s home to the Quokka, white sandy beaches, secluded coves and shallow waters perfect for snorkelling. Just 19 km off the coast of Perth but an entire world away. We took the SeaLink Rottnest Ferry from Fremantle which is only a 25 min trip.

We stayed in a self-contained 3-bedroom apartment in Geordie Bay with stunning water views from our balcony. We hired bikes once over on the island which was an amazing experience. On the island bikes are the transportation of choice and can be hired or you can bring your own by ferry from the mainland for an extra cost. We decided cost wise it was cheaper for us to hire once over there. If biking isn’t on your agenda there is a Hop on Hop off bus that takes you on 18 stops around the island which we did as well as biking.

The Rottnest Bakery is a must and of course the obligational Quokka selfie. So much to see and do on the island you really need at least 3 days to see everything. We had so much fun and will definitely be back again one day
